5 Signs It’s Time To Change Your Skincare Routine

Your skincare routine is probably one of the most crucial parts of your entire beauty routine. If your skin is bad and you are dealing with a breakout, it can make you very self-conscious about your appearance. Coming up with a skincare routine that works for you is essential. The thing about a great skincare routine is that it won’t last forever. No matter how flawless your skin looks now, chances are you will have to change up your skincare routine over time in order to keep your skin looking radiant. You know you need to make changes to your skincare routine by looking for signs. Your skin will reveal everything to you;  but, it is up for you to notice.

Here are some of the most common signs to be on the lookout for that indicate it is time to switch up your skincare routine:

Your Skin is Red & Suddenly Full of Zits

If you are noticing zits that you did not have before you started your new skincare regimen, chances are the products you are using for your routine are causing breakouts. It is common for different products to have this effect on the skin. This is a sign that the cleanser you are using or even your moisturizing lotion could be breaking you out. Once you start noticing the zits, you need to make a change to your skincare routine right away. The tricky part can be determining which product is the culprit of the zits.

Any difference in the color of your skin is a dead giveaway that you need to change your current skincare routine fast. Redness is not the look that you are looking to achieve with your skincare routine. The products that you use should not be producing redness; in fact, they should be having the opposite effect. To get rid of redness, you also need to be aware of your typical habits when going through your skincare routine. Washing your face with hot water could be what is creating redness.

The Results are Just Not There

Your skincare routine is most likely time consuming and costly. It only makes sense that you want to see some kind of benefit from the products you are using. A sign that you need to change your skincare routine is a lack of results. Flawless skin is almost impossible to achieve, but you should have skin that looks better than it did before you began your current skincare routine. If you are still having breakouts at the same rate or your skin is just as troublesome as before, you are not getting the results you need. If you’re seeing no results then you should change your skincare routine. Remember only to stick with a skincare routine for as long as it works. Always make sure that you give any skincare routine enough time to produce real results before you label it a failure. You should be able to see results within a month, if it’s not working, try something new.

Your Skin Is Suddenly Dryer Than The Dessert

Dry skin is never something that is flattering. It is flaky and not easily covered with makeup. When you start to notice that your skin is really dry, it is time to change the skincare products you are using. The reality is that if you have dry skin, you are using some skincare product that is drying your skin out. When your skin is dry in patchy areas, the reality is the products you are using on your skin do not contain the right ingredients for your skin type. You need to look for skincare products that are designed to be soothing and moisturizing. Starting out, you should use a moisturizer twice a day, once in the morning and again at night. Once your skin has increased in hydration then you can moisturize nightly. The ingredients that you should avoid when dryness is an issue are alcohol, fragrances and salicylic acid.

Your Skin Is Covered In Oil

Not only can your skin be dry when you are using the wrong products in your skincare routine; but, it is also possible for your skin to be too oily. A wet and slick shine is a lot different than a natural glow. This means that if you have to use blotting paper on your face all night to keep up with the oil, it is time to adjust your skincare routine. The cleanser that you are using is most likely the culprit of your over oily skin. Many people assume it is the moisturizer that they are using, but the cleanser is what you should really be looking to change if oil is a concern. If your skin care routine is making your face oily add an alcohol free toner to your routine. A toner will help remove stubborn dirt and oil while minimizing the appearance of enlarged pores. Look for an alcohol free toner with skin-replenishing ingredients and antioxidants for the best results.

Your Skincare Routine Should Produce Results Not Discomfort

Your face should be soothed and cared for with the skincare routine that you choose. This means that stinging or burning should not be a part of your normal routine. Pain does not equal beauty in this instance. Once you begin to notice the stinging or burning sensation, you need to begin making real changes to your skincare routine right away. Healthy skin should feel soft and supple with no discomfort or sensitivity. If your skin is irritated stop using all products for a week until it clears up before slowly introducing new products, too many at a time can irritate the skin.

Your skincare routine is something that you need to be changing up every few months and the only way to do that is to be on the lookout for the most common signs that it is time for a skincare upgrade.
