Why All the Fear?

As with any chemical compound there are potential side effects. The fears of aluminum come from studies done as far back as the 80's that linked it to cancer and Alzheimer's. In addition the logic stems from the fact that aluminium is absorbed directly into the bloodstream via nicks and may carry hormonal effects. For instance according the the National Cancer Institute, some scientists stand by the claim that excess estrogen can promote the growth of breast cancer cells.

Despite all these fears, there are not enough studies to conclusively paint a direct link between cancer and aluminium. There have been conflicting results that suggest a possible link but don't account for other factors that may be to blame. The matter of the fact is that applying a harsh chemical near your lymph nodes may have side effects that science has not caught on to yet.
