Simple DIY to Lighten Dark Underarm Patches

Dark Underarms Are More Common Than You Think

Dark arms do not occur due to poor hygienic habits; but, rather from everyday routines like shaving and applying deodorant.  They can cause embarrassment for those times when you want to go sleeveless at a special occasion or at the beach. Rather than continue to avoid showing your pits, try these simple, safe and natural remedies to say goodbye to dark underarms for good!

Lemon Honey Scrub:

Lemons are nature's bleach, the acidic qualities help “burn” off the layer of dead skin at the surface that can hinder glowing skin. They also have anti-septic properties that exfoliate skin with a fresh scent.  Honey is know for its anti-inflammatory properties that can help soothe skin from irritation caused by shaving.

What You'll Need:

  • Juice from 1/2 Lemon or Approx. 1 TSP
  • 1 TSP of Honey
  • 2 TSP Brown Sugar

Mix all ingredients and apply scrub in circular motion for 10-15 minutes daily. Wipe away with warm washcloth. 

Honey is nature's most powerful  anti-inflammatory agent
Vinegar Paste

This antiseptic eliminates bacteria and clears out dead skin cells. Mix with baking soda to create an exfoliating paste.

What You'll Need: 

  • 2 TSP Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1-2 TSP Baking Soda

Mix ingredients until paste thickens, apply to underarms in circular motion for 15 minutes. Wash away with warm washcloth. 

Yogurt Citrus Paste

Yogurt contains lactic acid which is another naturally bleaching agent, while hints of citrus contain acid that help peel away layers of dead skin. While tumeric oil is known as a powerful antiseptic that neutralizes bacteria and is a powerful bleaching agent. Baking soda makes a great exfoliating agent that has natural lightening properties without fragrance!

What You'll Need:

  • 2 TSP Plain Greek Yogurt (the thicker texture makes a better paste)
  • 1 TSP Lemon Juice (fresh squeezed works best)
  • 1/2 Tumeric Essential Oil
  • 2 TSP Baking Soda

Mix all ingredients until it thickens, apply product in circular motion for 20 minutes daily. Wipe away with warm washcloth.

Potatoes

As crazy as it sounds, potatoes have high amounts of Vitamin C (natural bleaching property) and their matrices hold lots of water. Potatoes are also filled with anti-septic properties that kill off bacteria that cause odor and darkness on underarms. You can take a raw potato for this simple DIY or use the pulp from potato juice to lighten skin.

What You'll Need:

  • Raw Potato

Take sliced potato and rub underarms in circular motion for 15-20 minutes daily. 

Cucumber Citrus Scrub

Cucumbers have natural bleaching properties due to their high water content that easily brightens skin. Not only is it perfect for underarm; but, fresh cut slices can be placed under eyes to lighten dark circles. Citrus is full of Vitamin C that is known for its powerful brightening properties.

What You'll Need:

  • 1-2 TB Cucumber Water
  • 1 TB Baking Soda
  • 1 TSP Lemon Juice

Mix all ingredients into it thickens to a paste like consistency, place underarms leave on for 15-20 minutes. Rinse off with warm washcloth. 

These are a handful of simple DIY scrubs that will lighten underarms naturally over time without the resorting to harsh chemicals or breaking the bank!
